Dental crowns are natural-looking replacements for the part of the tooth that sits above the gum line. They are used to protect the part of the natural tooth that remains either after a root canal treatment, or perhaps after injury or disease has led a large portion of the tooth to have been removed or lost.
Crowns are extremely versatile and can be used in a wide variety of treatments to maintain the look, function and integrity of a single tooth, or several teeth.
Bridges support a replacement tooth (or teeth) which sit in the gap where a tooth is missing. Typically they are supported on one or both sides by a crown fitted on the prepared tooth adjacent to the gap. Bridges can also be supported by dental implants.
