Why Have Crowns & Bridges?

Dental crowns and bridges are slightly different in their purpose, but both work to protect the natural teeth whilst maintaining a complete smile aesthetic. With our skilled design process, and using exceptional, high-grade materials, you can enjoy a beautiful, full smile once again.

Crowns

Dental crowns are natural-looking replacements for the part of the tooth that sits above the gum line. They are used to protect the part of the natural tooth that remains either after a root canal treatment, or perhaps after injury or disease has led a large portion of the tooth to have been removed or lost.

Common reasons for the use of dental crowns:

To support a dental bridge
To complete an implant treatment
To protect the tooth after root canal therapy
As a way to protect natural teeth when fillings are not appropriate
To improve the look of the smile
For the protection of a very worn or damaged tooth
As part of a smile restoration treatment

Crowns are extremely versatile and can be used in a wide variety of treatments to maintain the look, function and integrity of a single tooth, or several teeth.

Bridges

Bridges support a replacement tooth (or teeth) which sit in the gap where a tooth is missing. Typically they are supported on one or both sides by a crown fitted on the prepared tooth adjacent to the gap. Bridges can also be supported by dental implants.

Bridges also help to stop the remaining natural teeth from moving and becoming misaligned. A well-fitted bridge also keeps the smile looking great, and helps you to avoid the discomfort associated with eating and speaking with a missing tooth. Just like crowns, bridges can be used to replace one, or several missing teeth.
